New Fuel Tank installed

Start by installing the sending unit in the fuel tank.

I missed getting a picture of my son putting in the 3M Strip-Calk, but that is the next step.

Then you put the tank in place and bolt it in.

Next comes the fuel filler, with rubber hose, which is clamped in place.

Finally the fuel filler is screwed into place on its cork gasket, and the cap wire is bolted on.

And we have another piece back on the car.

Second dry fit of the new passenger side floor

Had a bit of time while the family were out to cut and grind to fit the floor support in place.

I need to compare these measurements against the last ones I took.

Then set the floor and seat riser in place.

I cut the end off the floor to firewall piece and re-bent the flange to face upwards instead of downwards.

I have a good bit of work to do here still, but I’m getting closer to welding all this metal back into place.

New Parts - Spring Perches

As part of my general suspension overhaul I knew I could not safely re-install my old Spring Perches so decided to order new ones now so I could do the entire front suspension work in one go. (Unless I decide later to replace the springs themselves.)

Removing the front passenger side suspension

I have been working on removing the front passenger side suspension for a few weeks now. Doing a bit here and a bit there.

I started with the control arm bolts.

Bought sockets and used my impact driver to get that bolt off.

Moved on to the steering tie rod.

And the sway bar.

Then I spent FOREVER trying to get this lower control arm bolt out.

I finally gave up and cut the end off that dang bolt.

And ended up cutting my lower control arm off too,

Leaving this stuck rusted into the car, to be cut out another day.

Update: Went back with the sawzall and a crow bar and got the last piece out.

New Tool - Bernzomatic Torch Kit

Picked this up for $16 at Walmart to keep trying to get that stuck Lower Control Arm bolt unstuck. It didn’t work and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to cut the dang bolt off at this point, but at least I have a torch now.

New Tool - CENTRAL PNEUMATIC 1/2 In. Air Impact Wrench

Ran out and picked up a CENTRAL PNEUMATIC 1/2 In. Air Impact Wrench that was on Clearance at Harbor Freight for for for $26.97.

I needed it to break loose this bolt that holds on the lower control arm. My DeWalt impact driver didn’t have the umph for this.
